The system was developed by Boeing and used by the Canadian Forces for Air Defense Training against threats such as the Havoc and Hokum helicopters. The Pop-Up Helicopter Target System consists of an accurate 3D, powered target mounted on a trailer. Rotating blades provide blade flash for the radar tracking systems. Lift time to a height of 40 ft can be achieved in as little as 15 seconds. The entire helicopter can be rotated during or after the lift to present a realistic threat. The entire system can be towed using a 3/4 ton truck through most types of dry terrain.
